August 23rd started out like any normal day. I got up and went to work and didn't expect to be out taking any pictures later in the evening. As I was driving home Robbie called me and told me we were going out to take some pictures of the storm that was just north west of us. I hurried home and got my camera and we all set out. Robbie, Dan and I met up with Mike at 168th and State St. in Omaha. This was our view to the south right after we arrived.
We watched an incredible lightning show the whole time we were out, but unfortunately it was too light to get any pictures of it. We did take a bunch of pictures of the clouds and sunset though. Enjoy the pictures here and to see more check out our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/OmahaTwisterChasers

Time for another update. We started out on Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 in the morning. We were headed down to Enid, Oklahoma for a high risk day (45% hatched!) Of course we had to stop in Salina, KS for some more burgers from Cozy Inn. Our next stop was in Blackwell, OK to get gas and we ran into Sean Casey and the TIV 2 team.
After a quick photo op and refuel we finally made it to Enid with TIV right behind us. By now the storms had busted through the cap and were starting to build momentum. We headed west to Meno, OK and unfortunately lost internet right as 3 tornado warned cells were heading right at us. Thanks to radar scope and maps on our iPhones we were able to avoid the large hail cores and came out behind the storms just in time to see a nice wall cloud.
Once this cell diminished we blasted east to Ponca City and on to Pawhuska trying to catch up to another storm but didn't see much besides some minor rotation and a nice light show. Then it was getting dark so we decided to head back home to Omaha. Until next time!
April 9 and May 12

Well the site hasn't been updated in awhile (Sorry!), so I'll recap some of the more recent activities of OTC.
April 9, 2011 proved to be a nice early season teaser for us. Mike Lachendro and Will Campbell headed up for a relatively local chase. They began the day parked in Sloan, IA. Around 6pm we had a storm fire just west across the Nebraska border and move right over us. We fell in behind the storm and followed it east. The initial cell split and we got diverted to the north. We then hauled to get back on the southern end and ended up on 175 just west of Mapleton, IA. We have a perfect view of the storm as it moved in. It still looked a bit high based to go crazy, but man were we wrong. We had a broad rotation spin up in the field right next to us, we jumped back in the Jeep and hammered it to get safe. After getting south we moved east on CR 34. Our view of the Mapleton tornado was blocked by the rolling landscape, but if we only knew what we had in store.
We came back north through back roads to CO HWY L16 and saw the remnants of the Mapleton tornado, but it was getting very dark. Mike got some great video of a monster cone as we drove east. We then stopped and using extended exposures to get some help from the constant lightning, came up with these.
May 12 was another sleeper day for OTC. Everyone was working, but there was a cold core system moving through attendant to the low pressure system that provided May 11th and it's bust-o-rama, but FANTASTIC slider hamburgers at the Cozy Inn in Salina, KS. Mike, Dan, and Will were all able to get out of work and make it to York and Lincoln. Mike had the best luck witnessing this beauty in Polk County.
More images to come after we can get everything compiled! Looks like some downtime for all the guys, but we are all anxious to get on the road again!
